Independence Place

Chesapeake, Virginia

Independence Place is a three story office building located in Chesapeake, Va. The building was Certified LEED Gold. The building was fairly easy to build. It is a steel frame and joist design. The exterior consists of brick veneer, glass curtain walls and metal panels. It was built in a pre-established business park.

The site clearing was easy. Most of it was done when the park was developed. All we had to do was take down a few clumps of trees, put it to grade and drop the underground in. As luck would have it the only bad soil conditions we encountered was where the building pad was located.

The client was Liberty Property Trust. They were great people to work for. This was the second job that I did for them. It was their second LEED Certified Building. I did their first LEED building for them also.

I included a large number of photographs below. The first two groups are of building finishes and miscellaneous documentation. Beginning in Photo Gallery 3 to 12 the pictures are pretty much in sequence. The pictures not only document the building construction and sequencing but also document safety, LEED requirements and job site conditions etc.

This was an ARCO Design / Build Project.
