Science Building
Appalachian State University
Boone, North Carolina
This project was a six story concrete structure with metal framing and brick veneer. It was designed as a complete science laboratory and teaching facility. The building was well designed. It housed the simple basic classrooms in addition to laboratories that were built to withstand explosions. The plumbing drainage system was all glass pipe with steel tube cage protection.
I started out on this project during pre-construction while building the Academic Support Building which was about 1000 feet away. As the construction phase began a good Superintendent was brought in and I was able to concentrate more easily on both jobs. A few weeks after project startup the Superintendent had a heart attack. I ended up taking over this project until near completion as well as continuing my work at the Academic Support Building.
My position on this project was Site Project Manager and Superintendent.
Below are a few pictures of the project. As I find more pictures I will scan them in and add to the page.
